Runway To Real Life: Dive Into Saint Laurent SS20

Cover image created by me.

Anthony Vaccarello has often kept to a strict and narrow canon of black in his previous collections, however this collection he showed us a softer, more delicate side of his sensibility, of the “Saint Laurent” girl and one copious with a kind of relatable, easy romanticism that young women haven’t been offered recently.

There was a grand total of 87 looks. View full collection here.

And then, for the most legendary end to a show. The iconic Naomi Campbell strutted out in a two piece trouser suit covered in sequins. No one was expecting that, and of course, heads were turned indeed. I know mine was. The ultimate statement was made – that the Saint Laurent girl is sexy, strong, unstoppable, and someone who shines bright and thrives in the spotlight.

High Fashion To High Street.

Trend Report: Gold Metallic Boots

The Gold Metallic Boots from Saint Laurent are the ultimate statement this season and the high street without a doubt weren’t afraid to hone in on this trend. Here are Gold Boots from Zara we are loving at the moment that are sure to elevate any outfit.

Trend Report: Sequin and Leather Shoes

Sequin blazers, pants and jumpsuits were spotted all over the runway, and with the stage lighting projecting onto the clothes made it shine bright

Trend Report: Embellished dresses

Embellished dresses have quite the regal statement and Saint Laurent reintroduced them back this spring. They can be styled belted at the waist, with ankle or knee high boots, you can even throw a jumper or blazer over it for that extra layer. I think Zara did a great version of an embellished pattern dress below.

Trend Report: Velvet Blazer

A trend spotted from the Saint Laurent collection that has influenced and been imitated by the high street market is the Velvet Blazer.

I particularly like this Velvet blazer by Zara. It’s oversized, meaning there is room for you to play around with it. You could wear it as a blazer dress, and tights, and your favourite ankle boots, or scratch the tights and just wear it with thigh high boots. Personally, I would belt it with a big leather waist belt and accessorise heavy, with gold statement earrings and such, as the black velvet blazer is a base to build up on.
