For her performance, J Lo wore head-to-toe Chanel (and a pair of Jimmy Choo Max sandals): high-waisted sequin-strewn trousers, a high-neck, ruffled blouse and an oversized bouclé coat. Giving a nod to Kamala Harris, the singer wore plenty of pearls and a colour associated with the suffragette movement. Like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Hillary Clinton and Harris, Lopez used the history-making moment to connect the election to the fight for women’s rights. The National Woman’s Party, an American political organisation founded in 1913, adopted white, gold and purple as its colours, with white as “the emblem of purity.” Last year, female House Democrats wore the colour to mark the 100th anniversary of the women’s vote during the State of the Union address. In November, Harris wore her white suit for her first address to the nation.
Taking to the stage, J Lo belted out “This Land Is Your Land” and “America The Beautiful”. Not to mention, she sampled some of her hit song “Let’s Get Loud” while sending a message in Spanish, too. Like Lady Gaga in custom Schiaparelli, Lopez’s outfit helped to truly capture the spirit of the historic day.
Here are some white staple jackets to help you achieve a similar J-Lo all white Chanel outfit, for a fraction of the price of course.
