After buying my Cartier Panthère watch in January 2025, my first luxury timepiece and the watch that changed everything for me, I promised myself I was done. I was set. But deep down, I already knew what was coming next.
There was one more Cartier beauty that had quietly made its way onto my wishlist: the Cartier Baignoire watch.
I went back to the same Sales Associate who helped me with my Cartier Panthère, and put another watch on my wishlist.
This time, I was drawn to the Cartier Baignoire. I tried on the popular version with the gold bangle. It was nice – very classic, very elegant.
But here’s the thing: I’d seen this particular Cartier Baignoire on everyone. TikTok, Instagram, in London, Paris, even on girls at brunch. I still loved it, but I knew I wanted something just a little more special.
Then I tried on the Cartier Baignoire watch with a leather strap. But not just any leather strap. It was the green alligator leather strap, in yellow gold, with diamonds delicately framing the dial.
Oh. My. Goodness.

The second I put it on, my jaw dropped. I froze. My SA caught the look on my face and smiled.
“This is the one, isn’t it?” she said.
And I just nodded. I didn’t even have the words. I knew. This watch wasn’t just an accessory… it was a moment.

I also tried on the red alligator leather strap, which was stunning, but I felt like the dark green worked better with my skintone. There was also a navy blue strap paired with full pavé diamonds (in the mini size) that I tried on, but the watch face felt a little too small, especially since my Cartier Panthère already has a smaller dial.

After a few hours of conversations, comparisons, and my 3rd glass of Champagne at the Cartier boutique, my SA wrapped up my new Cartier Baignoire watch in the signature Cartier packaging, the white wrapping, red wax stamp, and tucked it safely into a classic Cartier shopping bag.
I got into the car with the biggest smile on my face, buzzing with excitement, and counted down the seconds until I could get home and unbox my new treasure.
So ladies and gentlemen, I present to you: my Cartier Baignoire watch with diamonds, in the green alligator strap. Isn’t she beautiful?

A Short History of the Cartier Baignoire Watch

The Cartier Baignoire has been around since 1912, and its name comes from its shape “baignoire” means bathtub in French. It might sound unglamorous, but the elongated oval shape is surprisingly elegant and incredibly distinctive.
Over the years, the design has been refined while keeping its essence intact, making it a timeless signature of Cartier’s watchmaking excellence.
I believe the Cartier Baignoire is beloved for how it blends vintage charm with contemporary sophistication. It’s soft, sculptural, and has a kind of quiet confidence that doesn’t scream for attention but commands it.
Cartier Baignoire Watch Unboxing Experience
If you’ve ever unboxed anything from Cartier, you know it’s more than just a product, it’s a full-blown experience. The Cartier bag, the carefully tied white ribbon, the wax-sealed wrapping paper, and finally, that iconic red box.
When I opened mine and saw my green alligator strap Cartier Baignoire glistening inside, it honestly felt like I was unwrapping a dream.

There’s something so personal and powerful about opening a piece that you know will live in your collection forever.

Does the Cartier Baignoire Hold Its Value Well?
Yes, the Cartier Baignoire holds its value well, especially the limited and unique strap variations, or those with diamonds and precious metals. While it might not appreciate in value like a Rolex, Cartier watches often maintain strong resale value, particularly if kept in pristine condition with original packaging and documentation.
Plus, it’s Cartier. The name alone carries timeless prestige.
Is the Cartier Baignoire Watch Considered a Luxury Watch?
Absolutely. Cartier is one of the most recognized names in luxury. The Cartier Baignoire is considered a high-end luxury timepiece. It combines fine watchmaking with jewelry-level craftsmanship, which makes it a unique offering in the luxury watch world. It’s not just about telling the time, it’s about expressing your style and taste.
Is the Cartier Baignoire Watch Easy to Get?
The classic Baignoire with the gold bangle is more readily available. But when it comes to the more unique pieces like mine, with the green alligator strap and diamonds, it can be harder to find. Some are boutique exclusives, and depending on your location, there might be a waitlist.
I placed my watch lucky enough to get mine in-store the same day, but my SA mentioned that specific strap combinations (like red or green) come and go quickly.
Cartier Baignoire Watch: Is It Worth It?
From the way it sits on the wrist to the way it elevates every outfit, the Cartier Baignoire watch has become one of my favorite pieces I own. It’s not loud, it’s not trendy – it’s timeless. And there’s something really empowering about wearing a piece that feels so aligned with your personal style.
Whether you’re just starting your Cartier collection or adding a second piece like I did, I can’t recommend the Cartier Baignoire watch enough. It’s elegance, history, and quiet luxury, all wrapped around your wrist.
